Learn about Japanese culture and leadership from GLOBIS University, Japan's No.1 Business School. In this special in-person event you can experience the Japanese martial art of Aikido and learn about its connection to Leadership.

Join us for a captivating event where Tomoya Nakamura, a respected Leadership lecturer and Aikido Blackbelt with five dans, will introduce participants to the art of Aikido, often referred to as the moving “Zen.” Experience firsthand the philosophy and techniques behind Aikido, as Nakamura-san guides you through basic movements and the profound mindset underlying this Japanese martial art. Please come dressed in attire that allows ease of movement, as we will be practicing Aikido without accessories and shoes.

Following the Aikido session, delve into a live Leadership business case study. Explore the evolution of leadership theories and examine their applicability to your professional context. Gain valuable insights as we dissect how Hirai-san, CEO from 2012 to 2018, revitalized SONY from a period of prolonged decline.

As an insight to the upcoming “Organizational Behavior and Leadership” course offered by GLOBIS USA in the April Term 2024, this event provides a unique opportunity to experience the exciting and dynamic classes that define GLOBIS University’s curriculum.

Tomoya Nakamura (Lecturer)


Mr. Tomoya Nakamura serves as President of GLOBIS USA, Inc.

He started his professional career at Marubeni Corporation, reorganized an investment company at Advantage Partners, and was the Senior Managing Director of Sun-Life Corporation (TSE 7040). At Sun-Life he introduced a progressive ESOP for more than 250 employees including part-time workers.

He served as Dean of the English MBA Programs at GLOBIS University while also starting the GLOBIS global training business and continues to serve as the main facilitator for various corporate clients. He primarily lectures on leadership, kokorozashi, and globalization.
